Thirty years, one campus, one curriculum.

Westfield opened in September 1996 with forty pupils in a rented building on Kairaba Avenue. We now teach nine hundred and forty across nursery, primary and secondary on a single six hectare campus a few hundred metres from where we started.

We follow the Cambridge curriculum from Reception to Year 13, with IGCSEs taken in Year 11 and A Levels in Years 12 and 13. We have not changed curriculum once in thirty years, which is unusual here and is deliberate: a family posted to The Gambia for three years can arrive from Nairobi or Dubai and their child continues rather than restarts.

In 2026, eighty four per cent of our A Level grades were A* to C. Sixty one of our sixty eight leavers went on to university, in the United Kingdom, Ghana, Senegal, Turkey, Morocco and the United States. Four took a year out and three began apprenticeships here.

What a family should know first.

We are a day school. There is no boarding and no plan for it.

Class sizes are capped at twenty four in primary and twenty two in secondary. A Level sets run from eight to fourteen.

Teaching is in English throughout. French is taught from Year 3 and is compulsory to Year 9. Arabic is an option from Year 7. We admit children with limited English into primary and support them; from Year 9 upwards we are honest that it becomes very difficult.

Fees are set per term, three terms a year, and are published in full on the fees page. There is nothing hidden in them and no compulsory extras beyond uniform.

Visiting.

We show families round on Tuesday and Thursday mornings during term, at 09:00 and at 11:00. A visit takes about ninety minutes, includes time in classrooms while lessons are happening rather than a cleared corridor, and ends with the head of the relevant school.

Ring the admissions office on +220 439 2200 or email admissions@westfield.edu.gm to arrange one. There is no charge and no obligation, and we would rather you came before applying than after.

Applying for September 2027? Reception, Year 7 and Year 12 are the entry points that fill first, and we advise applying a full year ahead. Other year groups usually have places. Ask and we will tell you honestly what is free.
